Applied Simulation
Technology interfaces with the Protel PCB environment through a translator
called PL2AAIF. The translator works by accessing the Protel ASCII PCB
data and converting it to Apsim’s AAIF format. The AAIF file can then be
displayed by ApsimTOPOL. ApsimTOPOL servers as the front end to the Apsim
tool suite. The AAIF format is used by all of Apsim’s application
software tools for Signal Integrity, Power Integrity and EMI simulation. |

Protel
to Apsim CAD Interface Usage |
Protel PCB .asc file is
needed. |
The interface program pl2aaif is used to
convert the PADS data into Apsim AAIF or AIF.
|
The converted AAIF or AIF format is a text
based description of the CAD data.
|
Apsim’s AAIF or AIF data
is used by all of Apsim’s application software to model and simulate the
design. |
ApsimSPI is a future
product which is announced but not fully released. |
The interface is a one way
only. Any interactive changes
are made with the Apsim application software. |
